Baptist Union County recently donated CPR instruction kits, which include several inflatable CPR manikins, educational materials and other supplies, to the New Albany and Union County school systems. The donations will help the schools comply with a new state of Mississippi requirement that all high school students get instruction in CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator before graduation. AEDs are available at each of the four county schools and at the New Albany schools, gym, field house, vocational center and band hall thanks to a donation from the hospital and the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation several years ago.
“Baptist Union County is honored to partner with our local school districts to ensure their students have the materials they need to meet the new CPR instructional criteria,” stated Walter J. Grace, CEO and administrator at Baptist Union County. “Students who receive this training could save lives someday, and that makes it well worth it.”
