October has become synonymous with breast cancer, and it’s a time when Baptist Memorial Health Care and its team members pull out all the stops to support organizations dedicated to fighting the disease.

Baptist team members support breast cancer causes with time, skills, and fundsThis year, among other activities, Baptist Women’s Hospital hosted its third annual Breast Cancer Awareness Bake Sale, which offered scrumptious, homemade delectable delights ranging from pies, cakes and cheesecakes to mouth-watering brownies and loaded cookies. The$1,104.38 raised will be used to fund grants for uninsured or underinsured patients who use the Baptist Mobile Mammography Unit. Pam Winter, a nurse navigator in the Breast Risk Management Center, organized the bake sale with help from co-workers Kris Azlin, Marcia Kirby, Missy Clifton, Shannon Fristensky, Joan Vest, Gina Nuccio and Lorrell White.

More than 75 Baptist team members registered for the 22nd Susan G. Komen Memphis-MidSouth Race for the Cure®. Baptist Women’s Health Center, Baptist DeSoto, Baptist Booneville, Baptist Union County, Baptist North Mississippi and Baptist Golden Triangle have received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Susan G. Komen to provide mammograms to the underserved.
