Help Shelby County’s homeless

Baptist team members are encouraged to volunteer at the Community Alliance for the Homeless’ fifth Project Homeless Connect, a one-day event that provides the resources and services homeless Shelby County individuals need to find and keep permanent housing. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center from 8 a.m. until 4 p. m. (for volunteers and providers) and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (for individuals seeking services). Baptist Memorial Health Care is one of the event’s sponsors.

More than 800 homeless individuals attended last year’s event, including 100 veterans. Hundreds received medical screenings, flu vaccines, eye exams, legal counseling, employment counseling and other services.
