Baptist Golden Triangle named Brad Kercher, an emergency department social worker, as its second quarter Service First Champion for his care and concern for a pregnant homeless patient.
“This patient has had many ED visits as well as observations on the mother/baby floor with a variety of different needs on each occasion,” his nominator wrote. “Brad has dedicated a significant amount of time to this patient at each visit. On the most recent visit, he picked up the patient’s discharge prescription so she would have everything she needed. He even covered the cost out of his own pocket.”
Upon being named Service First Champion, Kercher said, “I am incredibly honored to accept this award on behalf of all of the amazing individuals who I work with in the emergency department. We are all in a position to positively impact the lives of others.”
