Lyn Sperling, the Baptist Women’s Health Center mobile mammography unit driver, recently was named the Baptist Women’s Hospital’s second quarter Service First Champion.
A Baptist team member since 2003, Lyn has earned her co-workers’ respect for the many hours she works and how she cares for them, patients and “her precious” mobile unit, according to her nominator.
“She goes above and beyond her job by scheduling appointments for companies if they don’t have the man power to do it, she enters paperwork for the techs to help them out, and she keeps the mobile clean inside and out because it reflects on the Baptist image,” her nominator wrote.
The nomination also included an example of Lyn’s compassion with a patient on the mobile mammography unit. The patient, who was having a bad day, appreciated Lyn’s kindness.
“I will always remember my first mammogram and the caring people at Baptist,” said the patient. “You should never underestimate the impact a few kind words can make…definitely a lasting first impression.”
