Baptist Women’s Hospital recently hosted a topping out ceremony for its 37,500-square-foot pediatric addition, which includes an 8,500-square-foot emergency room, slated to open in late January 2015. Topping out celebrations are held after the last beam is placed at the top of a building under construction.
In May 2012, inpatient and outpatient surgery services and diagnostics transitioned from Baptist Memphis to Baptist Women’s Hospital. Construction began in late summer 2013 on a pediatric emergency room, which will be staffed by pediatric emergency medicine physicians. Hospitalists and an array of pediatric specialists will care for patients from birth to age 18 within the hospital’s expanded pediatric services.
