Baptist offered free health screenings and 25 Baptist Health Sciences University students volunteered at Healthy Shelby’s “140/90: Living Life Under Pressure” event on Saturday, June 21. About 200 people attended the event, which offered prizes, healthy food samples, blood pressure screenings, cooking classes, 3-on-3 basketball, Kroc Center tours and more. They also had a chance to meet former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins, the Healthy Shelby Blood Pressure Campaign spokesman.
Rev. Keith Norman, Baptist’s vice president of government affairs, got his blood pressure checked and visited with Hollins during the event. Baptist Medical Group also had a presence; BMG physician Dr. Adisa Jones attended and helped spread the word about the Measure Up, Pressure Down effort that BMG recently joined.
