Baptist Corporate colleague named Service First Champ after anonymously donating burial plot

Jean Geoghegan, a compensation assistant in the Corporate Human Resources department at Baptist Memorial Health Care, recently was named the Corporate building’s second quarter Service First Champion. Nominated by fellow HR colleague Dee Banta, Jean won the award for making Service First “not just a workplace philosophy but a way of life.”

After reading about a child who was killed by the boyfriend of the child’s mother, Jean anonymously donated a burial plot to the family.

“Her compassion for a family she did not know and her spirit of giving to help a distraught stranger touched my heart,” Dee wrote in her nomination. “The family will never know what Jean did to provide them some level of peace in their time of grief, but perhaps we can all benefit from her selfless contribution to someone in dire need.”

Jean was one of 10 Corporate building colleagues nominated for the Service First award. The other nominees were:
