Baptist Medical Group, Baptist Memorial Health Care’s multispecialty physician group, recently opened the BMG-Primary Care and Walk-In Clinic, located at 1520 Union Ave. in a former post office building.
“The purchase of this site demonstrates the continued commitment of Baptist Memorial Health Care to metro Memphis,” said Jim Boswell, Baptist Medical Group chief executive officer and vice president of physician services for Baptist Memorial Health Care. “This location will allow Baptist Medical Group to enhance patient convenience by providing an additional point of access for patients in the midtown and downtown areas.”
Studies by the American Medical Association have shown that Shelby County has a shortage of primary care providers. The newly renovated 11,470-square-foot building will be one of the largest BMG clinic locations and will offer immediate access to nine physicians and nurse practitioners. Taking the lead at this new location will be long-time physicians Dr. Freddie Everson and Dr. Jay Patchen, formerly with BMG-Memphis Primary Care Associates.
“Our goal is to offer preventive and wellness care to keep our community healthier before chronic conditions become life-threatening,” said Everson.
“We are looking forward to adding new patients, answering their questions and offering a walk-in clinic to meet their immediate care needs seven days a week,” added Patchen.
Baptist Medical Group is one of the area’s largest not-for-profit multispecialty physician group practices with 554 providers representing 43 specialties in West Tennessee, East Arkansas and North Mississippi. For more information on BMG, please visit www.bmg.md, or call 901-227-DOCS.
