Baptist Booneville sponsors program to help improve oral health

For the fourth year, Baptist Booneville will sponsor the Northeast Regional Chapter of the Mississippi Oral Health Community Alliance’s Sealant Day Project.

James Grantham, CEO and administrator of Baptist Booneville, recently presented the sponsorship check to Camille Shoffner, a dental hygiene instructor and MOHCA chapter president.

“Baptist Booneville is proud to sponsor a program that helps improve oral health in our community,” said Grantham.

MOHCA is a consortium of concerned people who want to protect and promote oral health for all Mississippians. Their mission is to offer a comprehensive approach to improve Mississippians’ oral health by serving as an advocate for optimal oral health; mobilizing community partnerships between and among policy makers, state agencies, professionals, organizations, the public and other groups that are interested in improving oral health; developing plans and policies that improve oral health through a collaborative process; and establishing an oral health services infrastructure that assures the protection, promotion and provision of oral health care for all Mississippians.

The Northeast Regional Chapter of MOHCA’s Sealant Day is scheduled for March 20.

“There are many health problems that can arise from poor oral health,” said Grantham. “Hopefully, through projects such as MOHCA’s Sealant Day, Baptist Booneville can play a part in improving oral health in Prentiss County.”
