On Tuesday, Jan. 28, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new Baptist Medical Group-The Doctors’ Clinic. The clinic, adjacent to the hospital’s helicopter pad, will be located at Hillcrest Street and Reelfoot Avenue. The 16,000-square-foot facility is designed to facilitate two patient tracks: those with appointments and walk-ins. There will be a large expanse of glass to let light in and provide views out. The design scheme uses wood as a chief design element to create a warm and inviting experience.
“The design approach is a hospitality theme versus the typical clinical approach of most medical facilities. This is to make the patient experience enjoyable,” said Stewart Smith, architect and project manager at A2H Inc., in Lakeland, Tenn.
“Our strategy is to ease patient flow, reduce wait time, and enhance the patient experience,” said Skipper Bondurant, administrator and CEO at BMH-UC. “We look forward to completing this $3.5 million construction project in mid-October.”
