Baptist Rehab-Germantown offers weight management, diabetes prevention programs

Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown is looking for participants for two programs designed to improve the health of those who struggle with their weight or are at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.

The hospital’s new Club Get Fit family-based weight management program teaches parents and children how to make healthy lifestyle choices. The 12-week program for kids in grades 1-5 and their parents starts this month and meets Mondays from 6 – 7 p.m. in the hospital’s Community Room. Participants must qualify and reside in the state of Tennessee. Club Get Fit is based on Baptist Rehab-Germantown’s successful Get Fit First program highlighted in a recent issue of the Baptist Leader. Baptist Rehab-Germantown also is offering a free, Centers for Disease Control Diabetes Prevention program that can help those at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes lose five to seven percent of their body weight and reduce their risk of developing the disease.

Both projects are funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee. To learn more about how to sign up for either program, please call 901-757-3428.
