Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi recently received accreditation from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists for its PGY1 residency program. The program, which began in July 2012, is an accelerated one-year pharmacy training program where residents participate in a variety of patient care and pharmacy operational services. The program is associated with the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, where the residents train with the faculty and have teaching responsibilities.
Baptist North Mississippi received a six-year accreditation, the maximum length granted by the association. To receive accreditation, residency programs must meet a rigorous set of standards, which Baptist North Mississippi exceeded.
“We are so proud of our pharmacists and pharmacy staff,” said Peyton Warrington, assistant administrator at Baptist North Mississippi. “We look forward to continuing to host pharmacy residents at Baptist North Mississippi.”
