What made you decide to join Baptist?
Our group was encouraged by the experience of colleagues who joined BMG over the past years. As a small practice, we looked to become a part of a larger organization with the extensive resources needed to support our mission of providing the best care possible for our children and families.
What are some of the future benefits you look forward to from working with Baptist?
1. Epic electronic health record system – facilitating ready access to health information across BMHCC.
2. Collaboration with BMG physicians and administrators to strengthen preventive medical care, specifically addressing control of childhood asthma and obesity.
What do you enjoy doing outside of your job?
Time with my family and quiet excursions along the Wolf River Greenway.
Who or what inspired you to pursue a medical degree?
I grew up in a family of physicians who had a significant influence on me.
What is a highlight of your career?
My career is highlighted daily by the smiles of children; they inspire me with their resilience and often with their courage.
Where has your career taken you in terms of cities and states?
My first two pediatric positions following residency were in the New Haven, Conn. area. Since then, I have been happy to be able to live, work, and raise my family in Memphis.
What is an interesting fact about yourself?
I was born in Vietnam, came to the U.S in 1975 at the end of the war. I lived in California for 11 years, Connecticut for the next 13 years, and have been in Memphis since 1999. I wish my Vietnamese language skills were better, but I can get by quite well with Vietnamese-speaking patients.
