Vickie Nardozzi, a registered nurse, recently was named Baptist North Mississippi’s third quarter Service First Champion. Linda Ford, the Baptist North Mississippi registered nurse who nominated her, calls Nardozzi her “mentor from day one.”
Ford praised Nardozzi’s caring attitude and willingness to support her fellow nurses however she can.
“She is always available to answer questions, give a word of encouragement, or just a hug,” said Ford. “She is not physically able to do floor nursing but she really cares about this floor and all of us nurses.”
Ford remembers one day when Nardozzi skipped a luncheon held in her honor because Ford needed help.
“Vickie did not go to lunch, she said she could not leave the floor drowning, and she stayed and helped me,” remembers Ford. “She stayed until she could hardly walk. She transitioned three babies and helped with assessments. To me, that is a real nurse! She put her fellow nurses and her patients above herself. She is what nursing is all about.”
