Overcoming life’s obstacles is a perpetual struggle. Hardships, disappointments, and heartbreaks can cause depression and discouragement. Times of challenge can be an opportunity of growth or an invitation for sin. With each rough experience, you have an opportunity of being molded into a masterpiece; a work of art for God’s holy purpose. However, during these times of vulnerability sin tries to seep its way into our lives. If you aren’t careful, sin can replace hope. In order to overcome and persevere we must be conscious of our thoughts, our words and our behavior, especially during hard times. We must seek God.
God allows times of suffering because He longs to be close to you, shaping us with each experience. Sin separates us from the Father and many times sorrow can lead to moments of weakness, which can lead to sin. Overcome by confessing sin and use each life experience to develop a closer relationship with the Father. So, when the going gets tough, you should go to God and not fall to wickedness and immorality. In Revelation 3:5, God tells us that “He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and His angels” (NIV). Build an eternal relationship with God by overcoming hard times through His strength and mercy.
