Diane Lowrance, a nurse on the 8th floor medical/surgical unit at Baptist DeSoto, recently was named the hospital’s third quarter Service First champion. Her manager calls her a “fixer” – because Lowrance can make quick and accurate decisions in critical situations – and a learner —always eager to expand her knowledge.
In addition to her on-the-job skills, Lowrance also shows compassion and concern for her patients. One family member credits Lowrance with making her 100-year-old aunt’s stay at Baptist DeSoto a “fantastic experience.”
“Diane’s ability to make an immediate connection with my aunt won my family over instantly,” the family member continued. “We were so impressed because during her scheduled days off, she called us to check on my aunt. That is something you don’t find just anywhere.”
The hospital planned a special Disney-themed celebration to honor Lowrance and the other third quarter Service First nominees. Mickey Mouse and Tinker Bell helped pass out certificates and posed for photos.
