John Lacy to succeed Larry Braughton as Vice President of Human Resources

John Lacy, Baptist Memorial Health Care’s assistant vice president of human resources, has been promoted to vice president of human resources effective Feb. 10. His predecessor, Larry Braughton, will retire on Feb. 8 after 18 years of exceptional service at Baptist.

Lacy worked for Baptist for 12 years, holding a variety of positions—including employee relations specialist and director of human resources—before leaving to pursue other HR leadership opportunities. During his time away from Baptist, he served as senior vice president of human resources for two major health care systems: HCA Memorial Health System in Jacksonville, Fla., and Methodist Health System in Dallas. He returned to Baptist in April 2011 and assumed his current position.

“This is a bittersweet change for us,” said Bob Gordon, executive vice president and chief administrative officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care. “We are excited about what John will bring to this role because of his strong leadership skills and the knowledge he has acquired at Baptist and elsewhere. At the same time, we are sad to say good bye to Larry, a valued colleague who has given so much to our organization during his tenure.”

Braughton began his career with Baptist in 1994 as the assistant director of human resources for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Medical Center. He became the human resources director of the Baptist system in October 1995 and was named vice president in 1997.

He has played a key role in the organization by leading HR initiatives throughout the system, providing leadership and support to make Baptist the health care employer of choice in the communities we serve.
