What do you enjoy doing outside of your job?
Singing, swimming, yard work and watching movies with my family.

Who or what inspired you to pursue a medical degree?
When I was little, my mother often got sick, I would have to accompany her on an hour-long walk to the nearest clinic. At the time, I thought that if I were to become a doctor, I could help my mother, myself, and she would not have to walk such long distances.

What is a highlight of your career?
I practiced as an ophthalmologist in China for 10 years, and when I came to Memphis 14 years ago, I did seven years of basic research for rheumatoid arthritis at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. I was working with mice every day in the lab and I found I really missed the time when I worked with patients. I realized my true love was practicing medicine and not the lab.

What would you like your Baptist colleagues to know about you?
I really enjoy working with patients and getting to know them, helping them to deal with their health problems in every way I can.
