Today, Quorum Health Corporation announced it was closing McKenzie Regional Hospital, a facility located in Carroll County in West Tennessee. We decided to purchase the hospital’s assets, and I want you to be among the first to know why.
Our goal is to preserve health care in Carroll County. We plan to continue providing outpatient diagnostic services in McKenzie, Tennessee, and Priority Ambulance, our EMS services partner, plans to provide ambulance services to the entire county. To reflect our commitment to serving the entire community, we will change the name of Baptist Huntingdon – located about 10 miles away from McKenzie Regional Hospital – to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County.
Rural health care providers are facing tremendous challenges, and some have been unable to survive. We are fortunate because not only do we continue to have a strong presence in rural communities, we have been able to add services and technology in our hospitals.
We have provided high-quality health care in rural communities for almost 40 years, and our goal is to continue to do so. We believe that uniting Carroll County’s health care community will strengthen it so residents can continue to enjoy convenient access to the care they need.
