A fellow nurse shared her story about Kierra Eason, RN on 5 East at Baptist Memphis. “Having surgery during the Christmas holiday would not have been my first choice. Kierra was my night nurse the first three nights of my hospitalization, and she never walked in my room without a smile on her face! She never seemed too “busy” to answer questions. She even checked on me on her break.”

A patient, Tammy, nominated nurse Ronardo Allen for helping her through the difficult moments of a procedure. “Ronardo came to my bedside during a minor knee procedure. I wouldn’t say I was the easiest patient, but he took my hand and told me I was doing just fine! I was screaming and crying but he talked me down, telling me it was almost over.”

Kelly Childress is the first quarter DAISY winner for Baptist Tipton. Kelly has been with Baptist Tipton since July 2016. She works in the Emergency Department and her patients appreciate her so much they sent in two nominations. Kelly is described by her patients as being “very helpful, sweet, patient, kind and a joy to be around.”

Alix Banker, a triage nurse, helped an expectant mother who was facing a possible induction at 35 weeks. “Alix took the time to look into the weight tracking of my baby and discovered that her weight was consistently increasing and aligned perfectly with an earlier gestational age. Thanks to her bringing this to my doctor’s attention, my little girl grew in utero two more weeks. She was a healthy, happy 4 pound, 3 ounce infant who went home the same day as Mommy.”

Sara Eaves, RN, float pool, was the DAISY winner for the second quarter. “Teamwork is the cornerstone of quality, patient-centered health care delivery. The DAISY award is a ‘merit-based award’ that honors not only great clinical skill and leadership but also strong patient care and compassion. The medical staff is proud to acknowledge the invaluable role of nursing in our hospital,” said Dr. Ashley Harris, Baptist Golden Triangle’s incoming chief medical officer.
