Baptist Welcomes New System Director of Quality and Accreditation

Announcement from Dr. Mark Swanson
Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Baptist Memorial Health Care
Interim CEO, Baptist Medical Group

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the new System Director of Quality and Accreditation, Michele “Missy” Arwood. Missy joins us from the Methodist system, where she has been the program manager for regulatory readiness, both at a hospital and system level.

A native Memphian and graduate of Collierville High School, she received her Bachelor of Science in Business from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Baptist College of Health Sciences and her MSN as a CNS – Adult Care from Liberty University.

She is currently working on her DNP in Executive Leadership at Union University with a projected completion date in 2018. Her bedside nursing career has been within the Methodist system and at Baptist Collierville.

Prior to her nursing career, she spent more than 10 years in IT project management for one of the world’s largest global insurance brokerage businesses.

In her role, Missy will oversee all accreditation requirements for CMS; the states of Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi; and Joint Commission for clinical teams in all 16 entities. In her words, “Consistency is the reason our patients get better.”

Please join me in welcoming Missy to the Baptist team.
