Baptist welcomes internal medicine residents

This month, Baptist welcomes the 2017 and 2018 classes of new family medicine residents. Baptist welcomed the first class in July 2016.

Planning for the Baptist Family Medicine Residency Program began in 2013 and was accredited in 2015. The primary goal of the program is to increase family medicine physicians, also called primary care physicians, for the Mid-South area. Specific training focuses on understanding underserved populations and the disparities in health care.

Currently, Baptist offers three accredited residency programs:

  • Family Medicine at Baptist Memphis
  • Diagnostic Radiology at Baptist Memphis
  • Internal Medicine at Baptist Golden Triangle

The program anticipates having four students per year for the three-year program. To learn more, visit
