During the first week of April, Baptist joined other organizations across the country to recognize Patient Access Week sponsored by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM). This year’s theme was “Celebrating Patient Access – The Face of the Patient Experience.”
“Patient Access Week acknowledges the unique contribution our Patient Access staff have on the patient experience. Our Patient Access staff is normally the first staff our patients and visitors encounter in our organization. These dedicated staff members fill the roles of patient registration, insurance verification, financial counseling and scheduling in our organization,” said Liz Tucker, system director, Patient Access Services.
Baptist Patient Access team members are required to obtain certification as a “Certified Healthcare Access Associate” through the NAHAM within 15 months of hire.
NAHAM promotes best practices, standards, and subject matter expertise to influence and promote high-quality delivery of Patient Access Services. NAHAM accomplishes its mission through networking, education and certification opportunities.
