Kristina Semiche, Baptist OneCare advisory analyst for OpTime Anesthesia, was so motivated to lose weight that she didn’t let the holidays or a broken ankle get in the way.
In fact, thanks to a free, high-intensity exercise class offered through BestHealth, Kristina was able to do both. And she’s still going strong. Last spring, Kristina began trying to lose weight on her own. Then in early November, BestHealth offered a free class at Shred 415, a Memphis exercise facility. Initially, Kristina weighed 199 pounds. By early January, she was down to 186. And she did it wearing an ankle brace.
“I fell in love with the class,” said Kristina. “They gave me alternative exercises, but it was still high energy. I also watched what I ate, so the holidays really weren’t a struggle. I still go to class twice a week, ride my bicycle, walk and watch my eating.”
Kristina is most excited about her health.
“I had high cholesterol and high triglycerides, but now, my labs are better. Seeing the difference and feeling better is wonderful. I love that BestHealth is available to help us make better choices. It’s great that Baptist cares that we are healthy and can be around longer for ourselves and for our families.”
In addition to free classes, BestHealth also negotiated discounts to dozens of exercise facilities in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee. To find a facility in your community, go to baptistleader.org/discounts, click on the box that says “All Categories” and choose “Fitness/Hobbies/Recreation,” or you can type the name of a fitness facility in the “Search” box on the upper right side of the page.
